WEEK 1 / WEEK 2 / WEEK 3 / WEEK 4 / ALL-STAR / WEEK 6 / WEEK 7 / WEEK 8 / WEEK 9
It was a battle of two teams battling for a playoff spot. Both teams were in great position on Sunday, but one team would be in a better position after the game and the other won't be. That was the case betweenb the 5-1 Court Masters and the 4-1 Don't Fah-Get.com. Both battled it out on Sunday afternoon and only one prevailed.
Charles Jones (yellow) is a veteran and knew probably the only way to slow down the Court Masters was to contain Dwight "Die Hard" Hardy (orange). Don't Fah-Get.com did a great job in trying to get Hardy out of his game, even though he put up more than 20 points again, it wasn't the Dwight Hardy fans are used to seeing, plus throw in the fact that "Optimus Prime" Mike Glover did not play and left the offense to Hardy and "Megatron" Justin Burrell. With the veterans Don't Fah-Get.com had, from Crabby to The Problem to Junie Sanders to Primal Fear to Silence of the Lambs to Garnett Thompson to Charles Jones to Primetime to Gary Bryant to James "Stixx" Williams...there was no way that Court Masters would match the experience in this game. The Masters did have the lead for a little while, but the defending champs quickly regained the lead for good. (View box score)
Bobby Cey "Marv Albert of the Streets" on reactions to Court Masters .vs. Don't Fah-Get.com: "In the end, Court Masters, minus Mike Glover, was too inexperienced to stop Don't Fah-Get.com and their Streetball Hall of Fame roster. The bench at one point looked like this: James “Stix” Williams, Junie Sanders, Darren Philip and Gary Bryant, among other legends. Defending champions aren't going to let up on their two year reign that easy, especially with veterans such as Crabby, The Problem, Silence Of The Lambs and Primal Fear. Shall I say anymore?."
K1X, also in the playoff hunt, needed a key W over Pops 5 on Saturday afternoon, and a W is what they got and officially eliminating Pops 5 from playoff contention, the first time since 2003 Pops 5 will not be participating in the playoffs. With the help of "Murder by Numbers" K1X is now 5-2 and looking for one of those playoff spots as crunch time looms.
This was how fast Corey "Murder by Numbers" was going on Saturday .vs. Pops 5. Couldn't even get a clear picture of him running up and down the court...even Jason "J-Hi" McLiese (in the background) couldn't catch up to Williams. That's how important this game was to his team, K1X, who are now right inthe thick of the playoff hunt, being at 5-2.. (View box score)
Announcer Bobby Cey "Marv Albert of the Streets" on reactions to K1X .vs. Pops 5: " The curtain closed on Pops 5 in 2007 with a loss to K1X Sunday. Both teams appeared stagnate for most of the game until the fourth quarter. Pops 5 had its moments, but just doesn't seem to have any chemistry this summer. Co-CEO Joe Cruz, Jr. announced he would shutdown the team since they couldn't make the playoffs. It was a sad day for the league and the fans, but hopefully Pops 5 will be back stronger than ever before in 2008. To be continued "
PR Pride needed a W to keep their playoff hopes alive. They wanted to get that W against GNC All-Stars. Pride's Kenny "Serious Satellite" Satterfield and "Andre The Giant" Andre Barrett .became the first players in league history to have two 40 point scorers in one game on the same team.
Andre Barrett, current Chicago Bulls guard and 2006 MVP Kenny Satterfield came to play on Saturday afternoon. This is the stat line when all 48 minutes are played by Barrett...48 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. This is the stat line when all 48 minutes are played by Satterfield...45 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Both shot a combined 34 free throws and made 32 of them. (View box score)
Announcer Bobby Cey "Marv Albert of the Streets" on reactions to GNC All-Stars .vs. PR Pride: " Former Seton Hall star and current Chicago Bulls guard Andre Barrett made a special appearance for PR Pride – one the fans at Baychester Community Center won't soon forget. Barrett finished with over 40 points in the victory against GNC. He also looked good dropping dimes and grabbing boards, teaming with Kenny Satterfield, who also scored more tahn 40 points, to form one of the most explosive backcourts in streetball history. Hopefully, Barrett will return for PR Pride, because his presence could make a big difference come playoff time, especially if Corey Fisher doesn't return to their lineup "
