CASE # HITS.08 - HOMICIDE
.
One on One - Part 3
RC:
Is it too early to say that Corey "Homicide" Williams
is a New York City streetball legend?
CW:
Honestly, I'm not a legend, far from it. Though my streetball accolades
are still piling up. I haven't won a championship. Last summer,
I lost in the championship at Pro City and Watson, and then we lost
in the playoffs at EBC. We didn't get it done. And if I'm saying
I'm not a legend, how can these players out there who think they
are "doing it" call themselves a legend? All funny to
me man. But even with all that, I can say God is good. The things
that are about to happen to me are unparallel more than any other
player to ever come from the playgrounds.
RC:
Would you welcome an "Allan Ray .vs. Corey Williams II"
if the opportunity presented itself in 2008 at HITS or at any other
tournament? Or do you feel it has to be at HITS since it originated
at HITS?
CW:
Anything is possible. I'm sure a lot of players want a part 2 matchup
against me as well. It comes with the territory.
RC:
Do you feel right now that Corey "Homicide" Williams is
one of the greatest New York City streetball players ever?
CW:
I never planned on being a street baller for the rest of my life.
I planned on using it to get as much exposure I could possibly get
and use it as a springboard to help my professional career, which
I did very well. But the biggest mistake guys make is thinking
because they are hot now, they will always be hot. They just want
to be the man in their hood. Not me. I wanted more. I put myself
in a position to do so and it worked out. Guys want to get hot and
be the man and have no plans to get the most out of these opportunities
given to us. F*** being the best baller in New York City. I wanna
be the best playground baller in the world!!!!
