August 26 :: 2007 Nike presented "Tournament of Champions" at GOAT Park
Nike Tournament of Champions: Randy Cruz (left), Joe Cruz (middle) of Hoops in the Sun and Kenny Stevens of Dyckman Basketball (right), were presented with awards on behalf of Nike, thanking Hoops in the Sun & Dyckman, as well as Nike Pro City, West 4th Street and the Conrad McCrae league, for years of dedication and commitment to the New York City basketball community. August 18:: 2007 In one of the closest races in league history to declare an MVP winner, and with so many candidates deserving of this award, the decision was finally made and that decision was to give out a CO-MVP AWARD for the 2007 season.
August 12:: 2007 "The Condemned" Steve Burtt, Jr. is WATCHING.
August 11:: 2007 On Saturday, August 11th, Kenny "Serious Satellite" Satterfield of PR Pride became the first player in league history to average 40+ points in back to back seasons, as well as breaking his own record, which he set last season, for most points scored by a player in a season. He scored 316 points this season. The previous record was held by Satterfield with 272 points.
July 31:: 2007 On Tuesday, July 31st, Smush Parker, Pops 5's own and former Los Angeles Laker Point Guard, signed a 2 year deal with the 2006 NBA Champion Miami Heat. Smush was welcomed to the Miami media on Tuesday afternoon.

July 17:: 2007 - HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2007 On Sunday, July 15th, All-Star Sunday had a moment of recognition to four individuals that have made an impact on Hoops in the Sun in its eight years of existance. Those four individuals, Obadiah Toppin, Ray Rivera, Bobby Cey and Illeana Jones, were inducted into the 2007 Hoops in the Sun Hall of Fame. As part of the class of 2007, they were inducted in front of a live, crowded audience on All-Star Sunday. They now join Darren Phillip, Will Cadiz and Rasaun Young in the Hoops in the Sun Hall of Fame.

July 10:: 2007 Sunday, July 15th will be the Hoops In The Sun All-Star Game for all divisions. The 8th annual All-Star Game promises to be one of the best spectacles at Hoops In The Sun, as well as New York City this summer. Will "SummerSlam" Mike Peterson repeat as Slam Dunk champion? Or is there another challenger waiting to dethrone him? We'll find out Sunday, July 15th, with festivities beginning at 12pm.

June 23 :: 2007 After having a ceremony for it last Sunday, the Joe "Pops" Cruz plaques have officially gone up at the courts at Orchard Beach. Both plaques can be seen adjacent to the Men's courts and Youth courts. Only Holcombe Rucker and Earl "The Goat" Manigault have their names on a plaque up at their respective park.
June 18 :: 2007 Thought playing basketball on the beach was fun? Wouldn't it be more fun to play basketball on the beach with a co-branded basketball with the Hoops In The Sun logo, as well as the Mountain Dew logo on it? Well that's what the participants in the '07 season are experiencing. Only at H.I.T.S. will you see this!!!
June 18 :: 2007 Sunday afternoon was a big day for the Cruz family, as the US Army Color Guard performed the National Anthem, in celebration and honor of the newly named Joe "Pops" Cruz courts at Orchard Beach.

beginning on Thursday, June 28th at 7:00pm ET.
Joe Cruz, Jr on HITS being on MSG: "I think it's great for us, the league, the fans, the venue...many people don't know much about Orchard Beach and Hoops In The Sun and I feel this is a great way to get the brand out there and once people start noticing and recognizing it, they'll eventually say that this is one of the best leagues in New York City.."
March 26:: 2007 Joe Cruz, Jr, Executive Director of Hoops In The Sun, was awarded the Latino Executive of the Year award by the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Monday, March 26, 2007. Cruz, Jr. was one of five people to win this award on that night.
